In 2019 the Folkologie story began. We (Kym & Carol) opened our first Folkologie store in the tiny village of Rylstone, Central West NSW. A few years in, we expanded into a bigger space up the road, life was good. In 2023 Carol received a not so great cancer diagnosis which saw the business sold to a lovely local Emily Gale, we are so thrilled that Folkologie Rylstone lives on! We packed our bags, kicked the cancer and headed back to the farm, back to Boggy!

About Kym

A furniture craftsman who has been salvaging and saving historical pieces of timber for 20 plus years. A builder by trade, Kym has spent the better part of his working life collecting incredibly old and precious timbers from all over the NSW region. Kym repurposes these finds into stunning pieces of unique furniture. His ability to make the old new and current again can be seen in all of his work. Kym says ‘the timber I save determines the furniture piece’. Every single bit he salvages is recycled and reworked into something new, often working with timbers that are 100+ years old.     

About Carol

A visual merchandiser & retail designer by trade Carol has spent her whole life in ‘shops’. Inspired by small scale, old school retail, and by the creativity of our homegrown aussie artists, makers, and designers. Carol has literally been sourcing and collecting the names of these creative gems over the years with the intention to showcase them in her store one day. It has always been Carol's goal to open up a retail concept in regional NSW, with the focus on small runs of unique, creative & quirky goods.

As we settle into our new life in Boggabri, we find ourselves running a farm, restoring a 100 year old cottage (very slowly) and razzing up the retail scene in downtown Boggabri CBD!
